Author Kenneth Lybbert

My name is Kenneth Lybbert and I started Lybbert Planners while I was studying physics at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg.

I served my mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Norway for two years, where I learned to effectively plan and accomplish goals. When I came back, I wanted to apply these principles throughout the rest of my life, but I no longer had access to the free planning tools.

I wanted a planner based on the same fundamental principles of success that helped me on my mission. I smuggled missionary planners from missionaries for six months until I got tired of scribbling out boxes and tools that pertain only to missionary work. Finally, I decided to build my own planner.

However, to build a planner with the same focus and attention to the purpose of goals as the missionary planner, I needed to understand the central focuses in life. I was sitting in a health class at BYU-I, when I learned about the interrelated areas of wellness. That was it! Something so general, and yet so specific was the perfect structure on which to build a planning tool. I set to work to make a planner that helped people live with purpose but was also cost effective. I started receiving requests for my planners from friends who expressed the same frustration with the lack of missionary planners. I really wanted to help other people, but I was nervous about making a profit from an idea based from my church, so I held off. However, through the encouragement of well-respected friends I decided to make them more widely available.

I modified my planner design to make it flexible for general use. I sent it off to the copyright office. One day as I was talking to my Programming teacher about internet business, another student overheard about Lybbert Planners and offered to build me a web site. I was more than happy to oblige. That, my friends, is the history of Lybbert Planners.
